Jericho Union Free School District

A new Library / Media Center, a three court Gymnasium with ancillary support areas, and two new classroom wings consisting of 35 classrooms and nine science labs.  BJLJ has also been providing architectural and engineering design services on a variety of projects to this District for the past twenty-two years. Our work for the District has included a complete assessment of all buildings, site, utilities and infrastructure. We developed a long term program which involved renovations to five buildings including window replacement, roofing, entrances, ADA upgrades, masonry restoration, heating plant improvement / replacements including boilers, electrical upgrades, fire alarm system upgrades, structural repairs, athletic field improvements, track and bleacher replacement, security lighting, gas / oil conversions, dance studio, weight rooms, computer networking, and air conditioning.

Library / Media Center

The new Library / Media Center combined and doubled the capacity of the existing High and Middle School libraries into a single facility while maintaining separate facilities for Middle School and High School students. The library is centrally located at the intersection of the two schools and becomes the main entrance focal point. The facility contains acoustically attenuated computer rooms with 36 computers each, that are easily converted to meeting rooms for academic and public use without disruption of the primary library use. Fifteen additional individual technology stations provide students with the latest in fiber-optic internet connections.

Science labs

BJLJ provided complete architectural and engineering services for the design and construction of  three chemistry labs, one physics lab, three biology labs, two earth science labs, a chemical storage room, and four prep rooms.  The project consisted of all new electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, bringing it into compliance with all codes and ADA requirements, as well as new casework.

Portable Classrooms

BJLJ provided complete architectural and engineering services for the installation of four portable classrooms with a canopy between the portables, and a connection link to the school building. Rear exit stairs where provided to meet egress requirements, and ramps were installed to as required.

All projects were completed on time and within budget.
